Everywhere we traveled, in town and country, we saw flowering plants, some we recognized, some we did not, some we were told the names which we forgot in the course of sight-seeing, but all added to our pleasure and appreciation. I omitted them from the story of our travel because they didn't seem to fit in, yet they were too much a part of the trip to leave out. What follows, in no particular order, are a few of the many. The first is a poinsettia-like flower we saw high in a tree with a butterfly as we walked down from Kuang Si Falls.
A number of the feathery green and white flowers grew around the pool at Shwe Taung Tarn Hotel in Mandalay.
The shiny red is, I believe, a Bunga kantan, its bud edible, the spicy ginger aroma important to cuisine in Penang, a state in Malaysia; we found it in Luang Prabang.
In Yangon, we walked along the shore of Kandawgyi Lake and found some lovely blossoms,
including the lily shown here with Karaweik restaurant fuzzy in the background.
As might be expected, we found lotus growing everywhere with a variety of blooms.
I have no idea, however, what this flower is; it was a flowering tree in Vientiane.
The rose (?) with the butterfly was in the Kuang Si butterfly park.
The lovely trumpet-like flower grew in Luang Prabang.
The mass of purple was on display at the flower market in Bangkok.
These orchards grew with several others on a trellis at an outdoor restaurant in Luang Prabang.
There were so many I can't even identify where I took them.
And I end this series with the flower of the trip:

I make no claim to have accurately identified any of these and would welcome elucidation from anyone with better knowledge.
The red flower with white pollen I am pretty sure is hibiscus.I have no idea, however, what this flower is; it was a flowering tree in Vientiane.
